J. Trevor Boyce Elected Chair of ACIL
The American Council of Independent Laboratories (ACIL) elects J. Trevor Boyce, Microbac CEO, as Chair of the organization beginning in 2010.
Venice (FL) Laboratory Sold
The longtime Venice (FL) Division laboratory was purchased by Sanders Laboratories, Inc., in December 2010. The Venice laboratory, established in 1985, provided Microbac clientele with numerous analytical testing services, including fungal resistance analyses, which Microbac continues to perform through its Hauser Division in Boulder, Colorado.
American Westech Acquisition
In December of 2010, Microbac acquired Amercian Westech, Inc. in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Westech developed a strong pedigree in providing environmental laboratory services to a wide array of customers, offering a variety of certified testing services, including drinking water, storm water, waste water, hazardous waste, air (including indoor), and industrial hygiene. The Harrisburg laboratory, which became the Central Pennsylvania Division, absorbed the analyses and employees of the Camp Hill (PA) Division in 2011.
Hyde Named Chief Operating Officer
Sean Hyde, who previously served as Senior Vice President for Operational Affairs since 2009, is named Chief Operating Officer. Hyde succeeds Bob Morgan, who served as Microbac’s COO for most of the previous decade.
Laboratories Acquired in Tennessee & Kentucky
In 2011, Microbac acquired Delta Testing, Inc. in Hyden, Kentucky and Warner Laboratories, Inc. in Nashville, Tennessee. Delta Testing, Inc. established a strong relationship with the coal mining industry in eastern Kentucky over the previous two decades. The operation became a satellite of Microbac’s Kentucky Division and relocated to a facility in Hazard, Kentucky. Warner Laboratories, Inc., developed a stellar reputation over the last 50-plus years as a provider of food, water, and wastewater analyses, as well as commercial / industrial sampling services. The Warner facility is a satellite of Microbac’s Maryville, Tennessee-based Knoxville Division.
Riverside (CA) Laboratory Sold
In 2011, Microbac sold its Riverside, California laboratory (Southern California Division) to A&R Laboratories, Inc. in Ontario, CA. Microbac's lineage with the Riverside laboratory includes the acquisition of a laboratory in Corona, CA (1992), as well as the purchase of Centrum Analytical Laboratories (2008).
