DRUG SCREENINGDrug Screening Solutions Microbac Laboratories performs testing for multiple drugs of abuse in urine based on a rapid immunoassay screen procedure. The initial screen utilizes monoclonal antibodies to selectively detect elevated levels of specific drugs in urine. Positive drug test results on the initial screen are confirmed by Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS). Microbac subcontracts this GC/MS confirmation to a specialist laboratory. Drugs of abuse detected by the screening procedure include: It is important to note that a positive screening test does not indicate that drugs of abuse are necessarily present. Some drugs with legitimate medical uses will show positive, as well as some foodstuffs. Only a GC/MS test will determine which, if any, specific compounds are present in the urine sample following a positive screening test. A negative screening test is sufficient to indicate absence of drugs of abuse without further confirmation. Tests of specimen validity, including pH, specimen temperature and specific gravity are performed as part of each screen. Validity tests are designed to detect methods used by donors to avoid positive drug screen tests. Test results and information are confidential, and Microbac handles all specimens and aliquots with complete chain of custody documentation. The laboratory operates under strict quality control and participates in an annual external proficiency-testing program.
Service packages can include on-site collections, randomization of donors, and information management. For more information, contact: Jesse Smith Division Manager Microbac Laboratories, Inc. Kentucky Division 502.962.6400
