ISO 18184
Textiles – Determination of antiviral activity of textile products
Summary
ISO 18184 is a standard test method to evaluate antiviral properties of textile products that are pre-treated/pre-coated with an antimicrobial active ingredient(s). The level of viral inactivation upon direct contact with the test sample (pre-treated textile) is quantitatively determined.
Typical Test Substances
- Pre-treated/pre-coated fabrics
- Pre-treated/pre-coated face masks
- Pre-treated/pre-coated air filters
Outline of Test Procedure
- Test sample (pre-treated textile)
- Add virus and allow it to absorb onto the sample
- Hold for contact time (2 hours as standard; ranging from 5 minutes to 24 hours)
- Elute virus off into a neutralizer
- Assay for Infectious Virus (quantitative assay)
