Shon Ahrendt

Shon Ahrendt is Senior Operations Manager and Technical Director at Microbac Laboratories, and he leads all operational aspects of the Merrillville laboratory.

After earning a BS in biology from Purdue University, Shon began his career at the laboratory before its acquisition by Microbac. Over four years, he gained hands-on experience across all areas of operations, including field sampling, sample login, sample preparation, analysis, quality assurance, and safety. Following a period in manufacturing, he returned after the acquisition and has since held several leadership roles, including metals department manager, quality assurance manager, and corporate metals director. Since 2005, he has helped lead the laboratory’s growth and operations, fostering a culture of collaboration, attentive listening, and steady leadership.

Born and raised in Northwest Indiana, Shon is an Eagle Scout and has a lifelong interest in U.S. and world history. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, camping, golf, reading historical fiction, and spending time outdoors with family and friends. He also serves as elected secretary of Indiana Dunes Lodge #741 of the F&A Masons of Indiana, which supports community outreach and charitable initiatives. Shon and his wife have three grown children.
