PFAS are synthetic chemicals that are persistent in the environment and can lead to adverse human health effects. Microbac is DoD ELAP accredited for analyses on approximately 20 PFAS related compounds in non-potable water and can provide defensible data to support your unique project needs.
A Legionella bacteria outbreak comes down to two things: ignorance or negligence. Businesses either don’t know they have Legionella bacteria and don’t know they should be testing for it or they know they should be testing for it and simply don’t. Unfortunately, this decision can be an expensive one for businesses.
To ensure safe drinking water, the EPA designed UCMR 4 to identify 30 contaminant groups to be tested (2018-2020). We help clients evaluate whether or not to regulate any of the identified contaminants in future drinking water compliance requirements. We have the expertise and methods to perform these specialized tests to the minimum levels required.
Microbac provides a variety of industrial and municipal clients with a full line of WET freshwater testing.
Microbac’s Biomonitoring Departments specialize in biological assessments of freshwater habitats such as pond outfalls, streams, rivers, lakes, reservoirs and wetlands. Organisms are tested in an isolated photoperiod and temperature-controlled environment. The majority of the freshwater organisms utilized for testing are cultured in-house, but excellent relationships with vendors are maintained in order to provide timely testing for clients.
The biomonitoring laboratory utilizes a comprehensive statistical software package designed specifically for toxicity data analyses. Microbac’s staff of chemists has diverse industry experience and performs tests for clients in Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Indiana, as well as for projects outside these regions.
Specialty services can be designed to help you determine the levels of toxic substances (trace metals, radiochemical, and organic) in fish tissue as part of an environment risk assessment. Biological contamination of fish tissue can impact the food chain and harm animals and potentially humans.
During the summer months, the presence of blue-green algae, also known as cyanobacteria, in the surface waters of freshwater lakes, has the potential to create critical health and ecological concerns. Microbac offers the experience and analytical services to identify algal toxins and help our clients better monitor waters for harmful algae blooms.
Utilizing an LC/MS/MS method, we provide quantitation and speciation analysis of the cyanotoxins produced by blue-green algae. In addition to the analysis of cyanobacteria, we routinely test for known oxygen-depleting contributors to seasonal algal blooms (phosphorus, nitrogen, etc.).
Microbac is prepared to analyze your antifungal performance standards and assist you in developing products with superior fungal resistance.
